Decades before the term became common in the English vocabulary, Elisa was an event planner. As a young girl growing up in a large family in Honduras, Elisa began designing and organizing all family holidays, festivals and celebrations because she loved doing it. Elisa’s passion for event design, planning and implementation for family and friends; and, later, companies and organizations where she worked, led her finally to launch a career doing what she loves most.
During the past 20 years, Elisa has served in an event planning capacity at some level in each position she held. While working at World Vision, one of the largest humanitarian organizations in the world, she was responsible for planning and executing a wide array of events, including large conferences, constituent lobbying days of over 1,000 people, to trainings, and complex international meetings. She handled all aspects of these events, including planning, scheduling, logistics, venue selection, registration, catering, vendor negotiation and management, set up, and follow up.
Elisa founded Order and Organization in 2007 as a part-time business. Since then, she has led the planning and execution of weddings, parties and celebrations for a variety of clients, and sizes ranging from small intimate affairs to 200 guests. In 2015 Elisa took the business fulltime because her reputation for creativity, value and excellence was expanding and her number of clients were rapidly increasing.
Recognizing that events are critically important to both individuals and organizations, she considers it to be an honor to be a part of a client’s life and special celebrations such as weddings, birthdays, quinceañeras, baby showers, bridal showers, etc. Her wedding designs are unique – having done intimate home weddings, small barn weddings, outdoor country weddings, and lavish weddings at exclusive hotels such as the Willard Intercontinental Hotel in Washington, D.C.
In October 2016, she launched her new premium brand, “Exceptional Events by Elisa” offering expanded possibilities in event planning and design. This service offers high-end elegant affairs that match the demands of affluent clients in the Washington, DC area.
Having made "outside the box thinking” and perfection on “the day of” the cornerstones of her businesses, she is known for being innovative with fresh, new designs, using colorful pattern combinations for tablescapes, and working with a variety of materials. For example, for a recent inspiration photo shoot, she designed, constructed, and fabricated a peacock floral design, which is now featured in her Platinum Peacock Design series. She personally sewed, stuffed, painted and created the structure that included weaving hundreds of orchids to complete the peacock’s tail.
She strives for her designs, materials, colors and themes to match the personalities and dreams of her clients. She wants every event to be unforgettable, and her clients unanimously affirm—Elisa delivers.
